POSITION TITLE : Substitute / EHS Floater

DEPARTMENT : Early Childhood

LOCATION(S) : 1825 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, NY

REPORTS TO : Center Director

SALARY RANGE : $18.37 per hour

DATE : October 2025

SCHEDULE : Monday-Friday, 10am - 1pm, or 11am - 2pm. Schedule may vary due to program needs.

JOB SUMMARY : This position serves as a Substitute for coverage in the classroom and kitchen as needed. Substitute’s assists the Lead Teacher in planning and supervising for a classroom of 8-20 children according to Head Start Performance Standards and DOHMH Article 47 regulations to implement classroom activities, works cooperatively and supports all program staff and with the general maintenance of the classroom to insure the health and safety of the children in the program. The Substitute may also be placed in the kitchen under the supervision of a cook certified with Food Handlers License to help prepare and deliver meals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :

• Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalence, some college credits preferred
• Experience working with young children
• Ability to work with children and families with special developmental, social or cultural needs
• Ability to interpret documents such as safety regulations, policies and procedures
• Ability to foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff and participants
