Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in an Emergency Room setting, requiring 3 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care Emergency Room with 11 beds
  • Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and GI cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 3 or 1 : 4
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Occasional floating to task within the facility
  • Cerner Millennium EMR system is used
  • Unit equipped for vent, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm use; RNs troubleshoot equipment as needed
  • ER manages its own patient holds, with 2 safe behavioral health rooms
  • RNs read their own telemetry strips using Nihon Koden monitors
  • ER Techs provide 24 / 7 support, PRN sitters may be utilized
  • Portable x-ray available; radiology handles routine transport, ER staff transport for urgent stroke CTs
  • Charge nurse takes a patient assignment, house supervisor available after 3pm
  • Onsite physician coverage 24 / 7 with 12-hour NP support
  • Initial orientation provided, with 1 : 1 training based on experience
  • Grey top and black pants scrub uniform required
  • No call required, but optional call shifts may be available
  • Every other holiday coverage required
  • First week consists of orientation with the department clinical care coordinator

  • Active IL RN license required
  • Minimum of 3 years' Emergency Room nursing experience
  • Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Ability to read telemetry strips and troubleshoot respiratory support equipment
  • Hardworking and reliable work ethic
