Job Description and Duties

Under general supervision of the IT Supervisor I, the Student Assistant will provide direct support to Staff on the day-to-day operations of the NOCC. The NOCC provides infrastructure monitoring of the network, applications and Data Center hardware on a 24 X 7 basis.The NOCC maintains non-traditional work hours and must be flexible to work other hours. As a NOCC Student Assistant, you will :

  • Assists in infrastructure monitoring of the network, applications and Data Center hardware on a 24 x 7 basis.
  • Work with Network Operations Tier 1 / 2 technical teams on an as needed basis and during Severity Incident cases
  • Communicate status to IT and Business Management continuously throughout the Severity Incident resolution phase
  • Assist in regulation and control physical access to the Data Center
  • Process and route incident case tickets to be resolved to the 2nd Tier Support Teams
  • Conduct necessary first level analysis and correlation of alerts or incident cases for escalation
  • Work on assigned projects
  • Maintain an awareness of scheduled activities pertaining to the infrastructure. Minimum Qualification :
  • Proof of application for, or enrollment as a student in, an appropriate college or university program. Geographic requirement : Local onsite support is required for Vacaville Data Center support, projects, and / or network infrastructure technical assistance during business hours as well as after-hours. Desired Qualification : The successful candidate for this position will also possess the following qualifications and skills :
  • Ability understand and analyze outages and escalate to the proper technical unit for resolution
  • Ability to seek out independent resources of technical information to apply to on the job problems
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows Network Operating System, Windows Professional Desktop, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Exchange (server), and Windows Outlook (desktop).
  • Proficient with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PC / LAN / WAN / Telecom / Mobile Devices / MDM.
  • Skilled with managing and owning a Help Desk ticket tracking system / incident management database.
  • Familiarity with standard software and Internet applications.
  • Experienced in analytical skills to tackle complex challenges.
  • Ability to produce reports and communicate both verbally and in writing in a professional and effective manner.
  • Skilled decision-making abilities when it comes to IT policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with coordinating and prioritizing multiple and simultaneous demands and events
  • Able to learn, apply and train staff to use new information quickly and effectively, without coordinated or organized training. Core Competencies :

Working Conditions

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs.
