American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position on a plastic surgery and limb salvage unit, requiring a DC RN license and BLS certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage Med / Surg Tele unit within a short-term acute care teaching hospitalPatient population includes post-operative reconstructive plastic surgery, diabetic limb salvage, complex wounds, and advanced surgical careTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6Shifts are either three 12-hour days (7 : 00-19 : 30) or three 12-hour nights (18 : 30-7 : 00), with every other weekend requiredFloat to units of equal or lower acuity may be requiredElectronic charting is done using Cerner, with medication administration via PyxisPrimary responsibilities include post-operative care, management of complex wounds, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary teamUnit supports first-time travelersHoliday coverage is required as part of the contractNo more than 8 days of time off approved during contract and must work full scheduled hoursReturn staff must have not been employed by the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a travelerPre-start and orientation modules are required and completed via transcriptsParking is available at a costMust be willing to accept an offer without an interview\n \n Requirements\n
Active DC RN license in hand or proof of pending status at time of consideration, with license required prior to start dateCurrent BLS certification requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg or Telemetry nursing experience, but strong candidates with 1.5+ years in a consistent role may be consideredMust be competent in Med / Surg and Telemetry skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmiasTwo professional supervisor references from the past 2 years required\n Benefits\n
