Overview
The News Lab at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications is seeking a passionate and experienced Editor and Training Coordinator to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with our Local Reporting Cohort, guiding student journalists from pitch to publication and overseeing our training and badging program. You’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of Pennsylvania journalists by mentoring students, building industry partnerships, and helping bridge classroom learning with real-world reporting.
Launched in Fall 2022, the News Lab connects student journalists with professional newsrooms across Pennsylvania. Our students have published or broadcast work in numerous outlets and earned recognitions such as awards from the Pennsylvania Broadcast Association, SPJ, and other organizations. We provide paid, year-round journalism opportunities that welcome students from all majors, with a focus on underclassmen.

Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications
Bachelor\'s Degree; 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Certifications : None.
Background Checks / Clearances

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00. Penn State provides a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical / dental / vision coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and a 75% tuition discount for employees and eligible family members.
