License : RN license required. Certifications : CVT, BLS, ACLS required; RCIS and RTR preferred. Must-Have : Strong Cath Tech experience; EP experience is preferred. First-time travelers must have 5 years of Cath lab experience in a large facility. Description : This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center. It has 91 total beds, with 2 dedicated for Cath Lab procedures and 1 hybrid Cath / EP room. The average number of cases performed can range from 1 to 16 daily, depending on the day of the week. Types of patients include those undergoing procedures for STEMI / NSTEMI, angioplasty / angiography, ASD, PFO, right / left heart cath, and thrombectomy. EP cases include pacemaker installations, generator changes, loop recorders, ICD lead revisions, and cardioversions, typically scheduled for one day a week. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 1. Required skills include monitoring, pan, scrub, and sheath pull techniques. Preferred skills involve IABP assistance, EP experience, rotor blade handling, PFO procedures, and knowledge in complex cases. Support within the unit includes a manager, supervisor, other techs, nurses, and an educator. There is no CRN present in this unit. The charting system used is EPIC (preferred) and Mac Lab (preferred). RNs will access Alaris and Pyxis systems. Floating to the EP unit may occur if experienced. Scrub colors will be provided.
