Come join the TurboTax organization as a Sr. Staff Engineer in the UI Platform team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of the UI Runtime capabilities that power the TurboTax web application, work alongside a highly skilled engineering team, and deliver outsized impact to the 50+ million customers through a delightful, modern, AI‑driven tax preparation experience.
The ideal candidate is a Sr. Staff Engineer with in-depth expertise in frontend technologies (in particular, React) and a proven track record in building high‑availability, performant, massive‑scale web applications. We’re looking for an innovative builder who would be excited to establish a durable long‑term vision for an AI‑native core frontend platform for TurboTax, working with Intuit platform partners and guiding the team in executing toward that vision.
Responsibilities
- Lead critical projects across the full extent of the software development lifecycle, interfacing with multiple teams and navigating ambiguity.
- Own and elevate engineering and operational excellence across the organization, identifying opportunities and driving improvements on availability, performance, and resiliency.
- Drive the technical design of secure, scalable, and resilient production systems and applications. Contribute to technical strategy and shape the vision for the domain of ownership.
- Elevate engineering talent in the team and the overall organization through mentoring and delegation. Provide strategic input to ensure the team has the right skills and mindsets to deliver for the short and long term.
- Work effectively with cross‑functional partners, influencing technology and product direction to maximize customer benefit. Demonstrate a collaborative, team‑first mindset.
- Demonstrate hands‑on problem solving through rapid experimentation while maintaining a deep understanding of the end‑to‑end system.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience developing front‑end, full‑stack, or mobile applications, with 6+ years of experience as a technical leader.Deep expertise with modern web frontend technologies, with particular focus on React and TypeScript / JavaScript.Very strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms) and their practical application.5+ years of experience designing and developing highly scalable, battle‑tested production systems and applications.Strong understanding of all aspects of a software development life cycle (design, development, operations, etc.) and proven track record of driving end‑to‑end complex initiatives spanning multiple teams.Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain technical issues at different levels of abstraction for technical or non‑technical audiences.Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI or otherwise).Compensation
Pay offered is based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. The expected base pay range for this position in Southern California, CA is $201,000.00 – $272,000.00. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits in accordance with applicable Intuit plans and programs.
