Mental Health Therapist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our collaborative care model, you will provide direct clinical services to patients in primary care clinics and work closely with Optum Behavioral Care teams.
Job Responsibilities :
Provide virtual and in-person modalities to coordinate patient care with medical providers and other mental health professionals.
Screen and assess patients for common mental health disorders, including substance abuse.
Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and side effects or complications.
Support psychotropic medication management, focusing on adherence, side effects, and effectiveness.
Offer brief behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and problem-solving treatment.
Participate in caseload consultation with psychiatric consultants and communicate treatment recommendations to patient medical providers.
Develop relapse prevention self-management plans with patients nearing discharge from their caseload.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Meet Tennessee state licensure requirements (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC-MHSP) or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience treating patients with behavioral health conditions.
1+ year of experience working in primary care or medical behavioral integrated settings.
Experience with assessment and evidence-based treatments for common mental health disorders.
