Groundskeeper Assistant (Part-time): Performs various unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks to maintain parks, grounds, trails, athletic and recreation facilities.
Examples of Duties

• Operates and cares for grounds maintenance equipment, to include: mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and trimmers.
• Cuts grass, weed eats, and rakes leaves.
• Drags, marks, and lines athletic fields.
• Cleans up trash and picks up debris.
• Checks playground equipment for safety.
• Addresses public and professional inquiries
• Performs other duties as required.

Education & Experience

• No formal education or experience required; however, candidates should have knowledge of the use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment used for lawn care maintenance.
• General knowledge, use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment used for lawn care maintenance; and principles of recreation safety and first aid techniques.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Knowledge of safety precaution.
• Successfully pass a criminal background investigation and drug screening
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting of objects weighing in excess of 74 pounds, moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access.

The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions.
