Position : Advanced Manufacturing Application Engineer – Wire Harness
We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Manufacturing Application Engineer with a specialty in wire harness design and manufacturing processes. This role bridges the gap between product design, customer requirements, and manufacturing operations, ensuring new and existing wire harness products are efficiently engineered, validated, and launched into production. The ideal candidate combines strong application engineering expertise with hands-on knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods, materials, and process automation.

What you'll do
Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for wire harness applications, processes, and manufacturing methods.Collaborate with customers, design engineers, and program managers to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions.Lead process development, validation, and optimization for new wire harness products.Support DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) reviews, ensuring efficient production readiness.Evaluate and recommend automation, tooling, and advanced assembly technologies for wire harness production.Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans.Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related issues.Partner with supply chain and quality to ensure materials, connectors, and terminals meet cost, quality, and performance requirements.Provide technical support during customer interactions, RFQ reviews, and product launch activities.Stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in wire harness engineering and advanced manufacturing.About you
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in wire harness design, manufacturing, or applications engineering.Hands-on background with wire harness assembly processes, tooling, and automation systems.Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD software for harness design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, CATIA, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken E3).Knowledge of manufacturing processes : crimping, soldering, sealing, bundling, testing, and overmolding.Familiarity with industry standards : IPC / WHMA-A-620, UL / CSA, automotive, aerospace, or industrial specifications.Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.Strong analytical skills with ability to perform process capability studies, DOE, and SPC analysis.Soft Skills
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management abilities.Strong communication skills for working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.Ability to balance technical depth with business and customer-facing responsibilities.Proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented mindset.Bonus if you have
