Senior Director, Data And Analytics

We are looking for three Senior Directors, Data and Analytics to be responsible for leading the data analytics strategy and management for three teams : Digital, Data & Strategy; Wealth Management, Operations and Risk; and Advice, Distribution and Solutions within our AWM division. The Senior Director will be an executive leader who combines technical expertise with business acumen and has proven experience in spearheading transformative analytics capabilities to shape the future of our investor experience, leveraging cutting-edge data insights to optimize investment outcomes and enhance client satisfaction for our AWM clients. This leader's innovative approach will guide our analytics team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Core Role Responsibilities
- Determine and oversee the AWM strategy and program for the adoption and implementation of divisional analytics tools. Develop and maintain strategic plans to ensure data, tools, and approaches meet evolving business demands. Leverage AWM and enterprise-wide analytics and data capabilities; identify gaps, then propose and implement solutions.
- Develop strong partnerships with business partners to establish efficient analytics and business intelligence tools, frameworks, and capabilities. Educate business leaders about self-service tools and provide support for teams as they stand up internal functions.
- Partner and consult with senior management to deliver AWM level analytical insights and metrics on Vanguard's strategy and client base. Deliver the leadership dashboard with KPIs that help inform actionable insights and strategic direction.
- Hire, build, and scale teams with expertise in advanced analytics, data engineering, analytics consulting, and business acumen. Oversee training strategy to foster development of analytical acumen for crew and leaders across Vanguard. Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Stay ahead of industry, market, and company trends. Ensures that Vanguard's use of analytics tools is scalable and sustainable. Serve as a leader of Vanguard's analytics community and contributes to expertise. Represents Vanguard in external industry events and proactively forms external relationships to bring in new ideas, technology, and talents.
- Participate in the development of the AWM budget, including the identification of technology investments and budget allocation to support these tools. Review expenses and ensure unit operates within budgetary guidelines.
What It Takes
10+ years of experience in data and analytics, with deep knowledge of the financial services sector.Experience building and leading teams of Data Analysts and Researchers within a global matrix organization.Deep expertise in data platforms (cloud-native, distributed computing, data lakes / warehouses, streaming), APIs, MCPs, and metadata management.Familiarity with AI / ML model development, deployment, and advanced analytics integration into production systems for clients and advisor teams.Proficient understanding and shaping of data governance best practices across a complex organization. Energized to partner with data owners to clean or enhance data to ensure a scalable analytics foundation and tooling can be built.Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and desire for continuous improvement.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Special Factors
