Job Description

We are currently seeking a Proposal Writer to join our team. As the first dedicated Proposal Writer for our organization, you’ll play a pivotal role in crafting captivating proposals that win contracts and drive company success. You’ll develop innovative solutions and strategies that set Lakeshore apart from the competition. Your creativity and strategic thinking will be key in refining proposal drafts, ensuring compliance with requirements, and crafting winning themes and risk mitigation strategies. Applicants should have exceptional writing, editing and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce compelling narratives. The ideal candidate also possesses deep understanding of the proposal development process, with a knack for identifying and leveraging strategic opportunities.

A day on the job looks like this :

  • Thoroughly reviewing and interpreting bid requirements to develop customized target bid responses that align with client needs and organizational capabilities
  • Partnering with stakeholders across various departments to create a win strategy for specific opportunities
  • Scheduling and leading discovery sessions with sales and subject matter experts to draft new content and refine it according to the sales strategy
  • Writing new content and rewriting existing content to reflect the win strategy, adhering to writing standards
  • Crafting and refining sophisticated proposal responses and other communications that are compliant, persuasive and engaging
  • Editing final responses for spelling, grammar, style, formatting, consistency, voice and overall clarity
  • Consolidating conversations and information from multiple sources to ensure comprehensive and accurate bid response
  • Conveying complex ideas in a logical sequence that others can understand
  • Partnering with all stakeholders across various departments to weave their input into the bid response
  • Working with the design team to create graphics and visuals for bid responses that can be templatized, enhancing presentation and impact
  • Regularly updating and curating proposal content, ensuring high-quality reusable and templatized materials
  • Tailoring writing to effectively reach the intended audience

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for :

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in the field or in a similar position (4+ years preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience managing people / projects (4+ years preferred)
  • Deep understanding of the proposal development process, with a knack for identifying and leveraging strategic opportunities
  • Exceptional writing, editing and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce compelling narratives
  • Adept at managing complex projects, showcasing strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly skilled in both independent work and team collaboration, with a creative approach to problem solving
  • Proficiency in advanced research techniques, with a strong command of digital research tools
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, balancing multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to adopt flexible work schedules, including off-hours, to meet critical project milestones
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), Adobe Acrobat Pro and TechSmith Snagit, with an openness to learning new software as needed

    At Lakeshore, we pay local market wages for employees that reside within Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

    For this position, new employees joining Lakeshore who live within Los Angeles and Orange Counties are typically brought into the organization at an hourly rate between $33.89-$45.91 depending on relevant experience & skillset.

    This range is indicative of projected hiring range. The annual base compensation will take into account each candidate's relevant experience, location, and skillset.
