Overview
We are seeking physicians fellowship-trained in Pediatric Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to join Baylor College of Medicine as full-time faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at CHRISTUS Children's, the first and only freestanding, academic, not-for-profit children's hospital in San Antonio.
You'll join an experienced pediatric physiatrist in an established program and be part of developing a Neuroscience Center of Excellence. This plan includes both CHRISTUS Children's and Baylor College of Medicine's commitments to grow neurosciences and pediatric physiatry services for underserved children and adolescents of San Antonio and the southwest region of Texas. You will provide comprehensive specialty clinical expertise for the care of patients with congenital and acquired neuromuscular, neurological and orthopedic conditions, and will incorporate management of hypertonia, orthotic prescription, therapy recommendations, and durable medical equipment evaluation / prescription while delivering high-quality care.
The ideal candidate will have broad clinical knowledge and strong interest in program development, especially growth of inpatient and outpatient programs as CHRISTUS Children's expands services. This position will have both clinical and non-clinical duties. You'll also have opportunities to develop injection therapy and ITB pump management services, and clinical expansion in pediatric EMG / NCV and other areas. Clinical work includes shared coverage of the inpatient rehabilitation program and the inpatient PM&R consult service, as well as outpatient physiatry clinic and other multidisciplinary clinics.
About CHRISTUS Children's and the Position
The position comes with a faculty appointment, along with a competitive salary and full benefits package, and is employed by Baylor College of Medicine. The rank of the appointment as Assistant, Associate or Professor will be determined by the candidate's credentials and experience.
