About The Position

Job Title : Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Profession : Laboratory

Specialty : Clinical Lab Scientist

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Night

Hours per Shift : 8

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of recent working experience in one or more of the clinical specialty areas.

License : California clinical laboratory scientist license required.

Certifications : Required experience with computers, including Microsoft applications, electronic mail, and the internet.

Must-Have :

• Experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Hospital and / or commercial clinical lab training in an approved program.
• Ability to perform tests in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory, including Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and limited Microbiology.
• Capable of resolving antibody problems, ABO discrepancies, preparing components, selecting appropriate blood for transfusion, and identifying and working up transfusion reactions in Blood Bank.

Description :

Required to calibrate and maintain all Clinical Laboratory instruments.

Troubleshoots all instruments and / or methods as needed.

Performs all necessary record keeping, quality control surveillance, and problem resolution on instruments and methods.

Carries out specimen processing and clerical functions as needed.

Must be capable of performing efficiently under pressure and executing selected tests in a STAT time frame.

Knowledge in techniques such as 24-hour urine, ABO / Rh / Antibody Screen and ID, AHG Crossmatch, and various testing methodologies is needed.

Experience in testing for cardiac enzymes, manual differentials, and PCR testing is beneficial.

Ability to manage therapeutic drug monitoring and transfusion reaction workup is essential.

Demonstrates proficiency in using automated instruments and manual techniques as required in clinical settings.

Working knowledge of quality control review and interpretation is expected.
