American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU night shift position requiring ACLS, BLS, and Indiana or Compact licensure.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an 18-bed open critical care ICU within a hospital settingPatient population includes respiratory failure, sepsis, CHF, declining COVID cases, STEMI, and surgical casesStaffing ratio is typically 1 RN to 2 patients, with 1 : 1 for high acuity patientsNo ECMO, transplant, neurotrauma, or neurosurgery casesCardiac surgery cases are managed by dedicated nurses for the first 36 hoursIABP and CVVHD are operated on the unit but are not required for travel RNsUses Cerner EMR; prior experience is requiredNight shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30Floating is required to progressive care and to affiliate hospitals as neededWeekend coverage required every third weekendFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyAll travelers must float throughout the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities as neededLocal candidates are not accepted for ICU positionsCandidates must be willing to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidaysUp to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off can be auto-approved; additional requests require facility approvalAny former perm or PRN employee must be gone for at least 12 months before reapplying as a traveler\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start dateCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications required; AHA or RQI acceptedMinimum 18 months ICU experience requiredProficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation, arterial line management, starting and titrating IV drips, sedation, and ventilator managementExperience with Cerner EMR requiredGraduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing programTwo supervisor references required for consideration\n Benefits\n
