Water And Wastewater Systems Assistant Superintendent
Assists with the daily operations of the Water and Wastewater Construction departments, including manholes, fire hydrants, and related infrastructure. The Assistant Superintendent supervises employees, schedules, and ensures safety policies and procedures are followed. Assists with the planning of water and wastewater construction and maintenance projects; assists with preparing annual department budget; and may perform various water and wastewater maintenance and construction work. May serve as Water and Wastewater Systems Superintendent during their absence.
Residency Requirement : Employees who are likely to be called to work in cases of emergency may be required to reside within reasonable response commuting ranges of their places of work. A reasonable response time to an emergency is thirty (30) minutes. Residency which allows response time to a City emergency of thirty (30) minutes MUST be established with 90 days of hire.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises employees, including assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance reviews, training employees, team building, and making recommendations regarding hiring, promoting, disciplining, and / or dismissing employees.

Education And / Or Experience
High school graduation or its equivalent plus 5 years of experience, at least 2 of which involved supervision; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge Of
General management principles; water and sewer system management principles, practices, procedures, and safety codes; budgeting principles and procedures; computers; and standard office practices and procedures.
Skill / Ability To
Operate computers; build, maintain, and repair water and sewer systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public; develop, organize, motivate, and effectively utilize staff; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and read and interpret manuals, ArcGIS mapping, policies, and other documents.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Class B Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker endorsement; Class C Water Distribution License; and Type II Wastewater Collection License.
