Nowon is a Korean American pocha that blends bold flavors with New York City’s diverse culinary influences. Known for our signature cheeseburgers, wood-fired pizzas, and inventive Korean-inspired dishes, we’ve built a reputation for fun, high-energy dining and genuine hospitality. We’re expanding in Bushwick and looking for a driven Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help lead our team.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager and ownership to oversee day-to-day operations of Nowon Bushwick. This role requires a balance of leadership, organization, and hospitality. The AGM will help foster a positive team culture, ensure exceptional guest experiences, and maintain high operational standards across service, staffing, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the GM in overseeing daily FOH operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
  • Lead pre-shift meetings, motivate staff, and reinforce hospitality standards
  • Train, coach, and develop FOH staff, fostering growth and accountability
  • Monitor guest experience and address issues quickly with professionalism
  • Manage floor presence with a balance of leadership and hands-on support
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and payroll accuracy
  • Maintain DOH, HR, and company compliance standards across operations
  • Collaborate with the BOH team to ensure seamless communication between FOH and kitchen
  • Support financial performance by monitoring costs, sales goals, and opportunities for growth
  • Act as point of contact when GM is off-site or unavailable

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of management experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach
  • Proven ability to train and motivate teams while holding them accountable
  • Guest-focused mindset with an eye for detail and high hospitality standards
  • Comfortable with scheduling, payroll, and basic financial reporting
  • Knowledge of DOH compliance and HR best practices
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
