How you’ll make an impact :

As a Manager in the Broadcast Operations and Technology department you will be responsible for managing the daily operational activities of the Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) and the department’s technicians. The Sirius XM BOC is responsible for 24 / 7 / 365 monitoring, quality control and on-air execution of Sirius XM content for over 300 music, talk and news channels. Ensure checklists and procedures are followed by staff on shift, and all incidents are investigated and appropriately remediated or escalated. Scope existing operational technology and procedures and make recommendations to the business for improvements.

What you’ll do :

Manage a team of BOC technicians.

Provide ongoing feedback regarding employee performance.

Complete performance reviews for direct reports, inclusive of feedback solicited from departmental Supervisors and maintain individual and departmental performance KPI’s.

Recommend promotions, employee compensation and collaborate with the Sirius XM People & Culture team to align employee skills with company requirements.

Manage staff schedules to ensure 24 / 7 / 365 BOC coverage and maintain staff schedule metrics to provide staffing recommendations to leadership.

Review and approve all timesheets submitted by direct reports.

Oversee team Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and accompanying technical documentation.

Collaborate with the Programming and Scheduling departments and other stakeholders to obtain information necessary for successful broadcasts.

Ensure BOC monitoring of SXM channels for audio presence and program metadata for Music, Talk and News channels. Ensure BOC accurately reports all customer-impacting incidents.

Investigate on-air incidents to determine root cause and report to appropriate individuals. Meet with individual staff to review procedures and adjust team protocols as needed to improve operational success.

Develop technical and operational skills and engagement of direct reports with appropriate training programs and education.

Obtain connections and check provider feeds prior to broadcast.

Perform special projects and assignments as directed by leadership.

Communicate on-air status to leadership and appropriate individuals.

Manage proactively to prevent customer impact to the extent possible.

Work with leadership implement workflows and technology that improves department efficiency.

Work with engineering teams and key stakeholders to document new developments in operational processes, system procedure and team protocol.

Be on-call to direct resources and activities during business continuity events and exercises.

Work with technology teams to define, test and operationally implement automation processes.

What you’ll need :

5+ years of Broadcast Operations experience, 2 of which are in management

Must be able to manage shifts and on-air outages in a 24 / 7 / 365 environment on an on-call / as-needed basis.

Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail with ability to multitask and prioritize as required.

Understanding and ability to interpret service metrics and statistics.

On-site availability during weekends, holidays and late hours is required.

Ability to clearly communicate incident specifics to partner teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Positive collaborative attitude and strong work ethic.

Ability to make quick informed decisions during times of uncertainty or last-minute requests.

Strong familiarity with broadcast automation systems.

History of supervising / managing high-performing broadcast teams.

Thorough understanding of digital audio routing systems.

Technical knowledge of satellite, IPCODEC and other broadcast transmission technologies.

Advanced knowledge of Evertz routing technology and VUE software.

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams to propose and prototype custom tools that improve efficiency and scalability.

Expertise in developing signal flow and technical design documentation.

Experience in network troubleshooting.

Advanced Slack, Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets knowledge.

Knowledge of IT and networking protocols.

Experience with incident ticketing systems.

Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of$106,400to $137,500 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
