The position of Facilities Maintenance Specialist involves the responsibility of maintaining and repairing various types of power plant and steam distribution equipment, which includes mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, instrumentation, controls, buildings, grounds, and vehicles within the site. This role also entails completing all corrective and preventative maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist reports to the Maintenance Manager and operates under the guidelines set by Plant Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on technical plans and maintain relationships with other team members.
- Achieve optimal results based on performance metrics and execute maintenance work orders as assigned.
- Manage tools and inventory of materials, tools, and equipment required for assigned work.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems across the plant.
- Perform maintenance on power plant systems, including Siemens T hardware and software, and conduct necessary readings and calibrations to ensure operational efficiency.
- Engage in training programs to support plant operations and the Management of Change program.
- Report to Maintenance Manager or designated personnel as necessary.
- Support storeroom inventory and maintenance activities as required.
- Identify and resolve control, mechanical, and electrical system issues.
- Document maintenance work activities and inventory usage in CMMS (Maximo).
- Serve as a technical resource for mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and tests on plant systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Respond to system alarms and malfunctions, coordinating with supervisors for corrective actions.
- Identify potential failures in plant systems and take necessary corrective actions for optimal efficiency.
- Repair, maintain, and install mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment as needed.
- Follow maintenance procedures and schedules diligently.
- Perform various maintenance tasks using hand tools, equipment, and instruments.
- Make necessary adjustments and corrections to equipment exceeding prescribed settings.
- Operate plant equipment as required, such as trucks, cranes, and lifts.
- Conduct maintenance tasks during outage periods as directed by Maintenance Manager.
- Adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies while performing maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a safe work environment with proper housekeeping practices.
- Manage mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and assigned work areas.
- Participate in plant safety meetings, present safety topics, and contribute to safety improvements.
- Comply with Process Safety Management and the Risk Management Program requirements.
- Supervise and support contractors on-site as directed.
- Assist in maintaining plant grounds as needed (e.g., snow removal, lawn maintenance).
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in power plant fundamentals.Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant maintenance.First Aid & CPR Certification required.Technical Skills
Ability to interpret complex drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.Experience with electrical test equipment and instrumentation.Proficient in repair, maintenance, and installation of power plant equipment.Certified in operating forklifts, lifts, and scaffold inspections.Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.J-18808-Ljbffr
