The City of Seaside is looking for a part-time employee for their Recreation department. The position is flexible and may vary depending on program needs. Possible shifts include : Mon - Sun (exact days may vary), 7 : 00 a.m. - 9 : 30 p.m. (exact hours may vary). Total weekly hours are 20 hours (may vary). Job Description
Under direct supervision, this position performs a variety of work in connection with programs and activities of an aquatic facility, including explaining and enforcing swimming programs and pool policies, regulations, and rules, and ensuring the safety of pool patrons; performs rescues and first aid procedures as necessary; and performs related work as required. This position assists in performing duties required to ensure that the City's aquatic facility is maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provides the highest level of safety for public use.
Examples Of Duties
Some examples of duties include patrolling the swimming pool and aquatics facility, implementing and enforcing City policies, assisting in leading and conducting diversified recreation activities, and performing basic custodial duties and routine facility maintenance.
Typical Qualifications
Typical qualifications include education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be equivalent to the completion of one year of high school. Experience as a lifeguard is highly desirable. Licenses and certifications required include a Lifeguard Training Certificate issued by the American Red Cross, American Red Cross First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate for infant, child, and adult, and an AED Certificate.
Supplemental Information
Physical demands include lifting, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, climbing, swimming, and working in extreme weather conditions. Environmental elements include exposure to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals, blood and body fluids, and interacting with upset staff and / or public and private representatives. All City of Seaside employees are designated Disaster Service Workers and are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
