The Manufacturing Engineer at HYCO Alabama is responsible for supporting production in both machining and assembly environments while striving for continuous improvement in all processes. This position is a primary resource for operators in need of assistance to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency, so time should be appropriately divided between the office and the shop floor as needed.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Designs, implements, and reviews manufacturing processes to ensure safety, efficiency and quality
- Evaluates production systems, develops solutions, and optimizes workflows to produce high-quality products at lower costs
- Evaluates quality control processes and makes recommendations for improvements in quality control
- Analyzes production processes, schedules, methods and other data and provides management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process
- Ensures that the company’s manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations
- Reviews and calculates labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making
- Analyzes and plans workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency
- Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Defines project success criteria and communicate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
- Makes effective recommendations when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
- Serves as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
- Adjusts schedules and targets on the project as needed or financing for the project changes
- Conducts project post-mortems and creates recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
- Develops plant automation solutions (hardware and software)
- Delivers an integrated roadmap for the delivery of automation capabilities and projects to meet capability and infrastructure needs
- Oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible
- Works with Subject Matter Experts (SME)s to develop and deliver process automation framework
- Conducts external and internal research to identify emerging trends / best practices and make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness for automation plans and initiatives
- Collaborates with manufacturing engineering, manufacturing and assembly to ensure design and quality standards are in place and being implemented
- Makes safety a priority at all times
