Berkley Edge Internship

W.R. Berkley Corporation is establishing a new operating unit, Berkley Edge. Berkley Edge offers solutions for hard-to-place and distressed risks for both professional and casualty lines of business. Edge will focus on small to mid-sized risks through a wholesale only distribution model.

Responsibilities

The Intern will train with key team members in underwriting, operations and claims to learn and participate in the Berkley Edge underwriting and claims process. This is a resume builder and stepping stone to a future career in the Insurance Industry.

  • This temporary based position requires strong analysis skills in accordance with service standards, objectives, and following underwriting guidelines.
  • The internship will involve a final project incorporating items learned throughout the internship.
  • Availability to work independently, both on a remote and potential on a hybrid-based in-person schedule through the summer months.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed to support our business partners.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree with a focus in Risk Management and Insurance, or a related program / field preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 and above required.
  • Rising Junior or Senior student is preferred.
  • Interest in enhancing classroom learning through practical career-related work experience within the industry.
  • Prior work experience is preferred.
  • Career Interest in Underwriting or claims in Excess and Surplus Lines.
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

    • Internship Details :

  • This is a 10-week, paid internship - Monday, June 1, 2026 - Thursday, August 6, 2026.
  • The hourly rate based on a 37.5-hour work week is $25.00 an hour.
  • This role does not offer a benefits package, as it is a temporary, summer internship position.
