Lab Assistant

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Syracuse, NY. This role works in a high volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of anatomic pathology lab science.

The schedule for this position will be : Monday-Friday, 8 : 30AM- 5 : 00PM

The pay range for this position is $16 to $23.43. All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees / certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Job Duties / Responsibilities :

• Receive and sort lab specimens
• Accession specimens (scan and / or data entry of specimen and patient information into laboratory information systems)
• Answer incoming calls and triage accordingly
• Troubleshoot specimen related issues
• Will support the Cytology Team Leads by performing the non-screening, administrative functions
• Prepare Monthly Performance reports for Cytologists- (counting and entering into a spreadsheet)
• Check problem case trays (LCLS Not On File, Source Holds, Specimen in Hold Queue) and triage to Support Service Team Lead as needed for corrections throughout the day
• Work the Cytology pendings
• Call for service technical support
• Post weekly schedules
• Perform a variety of administrative / clerical duties, (i.e. typing, faxing, filing and emailing)
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Other related duties as needed within the department
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
