Key Responsibilities

System Assessment & Documentation

Perform a full technical and functional assessment of the custom Informix / 4GL ERP, including data structures, integrations, business logic, workflows, and financial routines.
Document core operational processes supported by the ERP (order entry, inventory, warehouse operations, pricing, shipping, AR / AP, financial close).
Map interfaces with Dialpad, hosting environments, and any external tools or custom integrations.
Create technical documentation, data flow diagrams, logic maps, support procedures, and operational runbooks.

Risk Mitigation & Knowledge Capture

Work closely with the existing single remote developer maintaining the ERP to capture institutional knowledge, undocumented logic, and support routines.

Identify immediate single points of failure, operational risks, and areas where redundancy or cross-training is required.

Recommend steps to stabilize the existing system and reduce dependency on one individual.

Operational & Workflow Analysis

Analyze how all six warehouse locations rely on the ERP, including order fulfillment, inventory movements, and shipping activities.

Assess user pain points, manual workarounds, and areas where warehouse or financial workflows are constrained by system limitations.

Review current reporting, data handling, and operational controls.

Roadmap Development & Recommendations

Develop a detailed, pragmatic systems improvement plan, covering stabilization, modernization options, succession planning, and long-term ERP strategy.

Provide recommendations for talent needs (internal or external) to support the system going forward.

Outline potential migration paths, architectural considerations, and sequencing for future upgrades or replacement.

Required Experience

Hands-on background with legacy ERP systems, Informix databases, 4GL-style development environments, and Linux / AIX-based operational workloads.

Strong capability in reverse engineering undocumented code, logic, and data structures.

Experience stabilizing and documenting aging, highly customized business systems.

Familiarity with warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing operational flows is strongly preferred.

Ability to create clear documentation, diagrams, and actionable recommendations for both technical and operational stakeholders.

Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills; comfortable working closely with non-technical leadership.
