Role : Staff Backend Engineer AI Wallet

Location : Remote or Bay Area.

Remote. Full time.

About the job :

Advantra is partnering with a high-growth fintech and crypto startup in Remote or Bay Area to hire a Staff Backend Engineer to design and scale backend systems powering AI-driven trading and wallet infrastructure.

About the role :

You will build and maintain the backend systems that power trading automations, copy-trading groups, referral programs, and AI-driven onchain infrastructure. You will design distributed, high-performance services, integrate AI / ML pipelines, and support blockchain transaction processing. You will own projects end-to-end, from requirements to production, and work closely with product and engineering to deliver robust, scalable systems.

Responsibilities :

  • Design, implement, and scale backend services for trading automations and wallet operations.
  • Build distributed systems and high-performance APIs to support millions of users and transactions.
  • Integrate AI / ML features, including RAG pipelines, embeddings, and LLM-powered services.
  • Work with blockchain APIs and DeFi protocols to enable secure onchain functionality.
  • Own end-to-end projects from requirements gathering to production deployment.
  • Implement CI / CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and incident response practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive stability improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product and AI goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in backend development.

Core requirements :

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience building production backend systems.
  • Proven startup experience delivering projects under high ambiguity.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architecture.
  • Experience with blockchain development and onchain APIs.
  • Familiarity with crypto wallets, trading systems, and DeFi protocols.
  • Experience integrating AI / ML pipelines into production systems.
  • Expertise with CI / CD, containerization, and observability tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving production incidents.
  • Ability to own projects independently from idea to production.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a builder's mindset in fast-paced environments.

    • Nice to have :

  • Experience with LLM prompt engineering and RAG pipelines.
  • Background in multi-chain or cross-chain systems.
  • Prior work on AI-powered wallets or autonomous trading agents.
  • Knowledge of tokenomics and crypto incentive structures.
  • Familiarity with high-throughput, low-latency financial systems.
