Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med / Surg Tele position requiring a compact or VA RN license and acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a 30-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit with capacity to flex to 37 beds
  • Mixed surgical unit with general surgery, trauma, and smaller orthopedic cases
  • Patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6
  • Night shift position with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating may be required to other Med / Surg units
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Dysrhythmia exam required with study guide available
  • Phlebotomy performed and supported by 1-2 CNAs per shift and sitters
  • Provide care to post-surgical and trauma patients in a fast-paced environment
  • Coordinate patient care and serve as safety advocate in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
  • Scrub color is navy blue or white, or any combination of the two
  • Holiday and every other weekend coverage is required
  • Study guides for pre-employment EKG testing will be provided

    • Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • At least 1 year of recent acute care RN experience required
  • One year of travel nursing experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • Surgical nursing experience preferred
  • ACLS, CCRN, PCCN, and NIH Stroke certifications preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Must pass EKG (dysrhythmia) testing with two attempts provided
