Job Overview : Control Systems Project Engineer

Salary : $100,000-120,000 / salary

Direct Hire. W2.

Location : Houston, TX

Position Overview : We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Project Engineer to design, program, and implement advanced control and automation systems, collaborating with a diverse engineering team to meet project requirements and deadlines. The role involves contributing to technical solution development, providing hands-on support during commissioning and startup, and fostering strong partnerships.

Travel Requirements : Up to 50% travel, primarily domestic with occasional international trips.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate project sites and define scope to create detailed proposals.
  • Design, configure, and implement automation systems, including DCS, PLC, HMI, and SCADA technologies.
  • Manage projects from concept through commissioning and startup, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians to achieve project objectives.
  • Conduct site visits to support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop, analyze, and adapt P&IDs and electrical schematics into effective control frameworks.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Manage scope changes as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with suppliers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated on emerging control technologies to improve project outcomes.
  • Provide support to field service teams during travel as required.

Qualifications Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
  • Technical Skills :

  • Expertise in control platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Emerson, LS, Modicon, Honeywell, etc.
  • Proficiency with HMI systems
  • Knowledge of DCS and SCADA
  • Strong understanding of BPCS and SIS functions, instrumentation, protocols, networking, and cybersecurity.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD for electrical drawings when needed.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills in electrical and logical contexts.
