POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Associate Therapist to join our team! In this role, you will provide individual and group therapy, conduct clinical evaluations, develop personalized treatment plans, offer crisis intervention, and manage a caseload of clients. Your expertise will contribute to fostering a supportive, therapeutic environment where clients can achieve meaningful progress in their substance use & mental health recovery.

The position requires availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 5pm . Compensation has potential to be re-negotiated with raise and review after 3 months.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides evidenced based interventions based on patient response to treatment.
  • Assess clients needs, abilities and behavior using a variety of methods including interviews and direct observation.
  • Works collaboratively with the patient and the clinical team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the patient, desired treatment outcomes, an agreed upon plan of action, and reassessment.
  • Maintains patient records related to screening, intake, treatment, continuing care, progress toward goals and objectives, discharge summary, and treatment outcomes that are accurate, concise, timely, and useful for coordinating treatment team planning, monitoring, and review.
  • Provides evidenced based interventions based on patient response to treatment.
  • Conducts individual and / or family psychotherapy according to treatment plan of care.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains good rapport with client, family, clinical staff, other departments, and visitors as well as outside referral sources and physicians.
  • Maintains the highest level of professionalism and is customer service focused at all times.
  • Actively works to build client case load.
  • Serves as a resource to outpatient center and makes referrals to outside agencies when appropriate.
  • Displays concern and Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
  • Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as company polices that apply to assigned duties.
  • Complies with company expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education : A Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or social science.
  • Licensure : California Professional License (Social Work, Counseling or Psychology) required; Licensed as Associate Professional Counselor in Mental Health; or Licensed by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist or Associate Clinical Social Worker.
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR training, valid California Drivers license and provides copies of all current certifications to the Facility.
  • Experience : Minimum of two years of experience in evaluating and / or treating persons suffering from mental illness and / or substance abuse preferred.
  • Knowledge / Abilities : Competent in individual, family, didactic and group therapy modalities. Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional growth. Keeps current via professional literature and stays up-to-date with professional techniques, theories and Observes the Facility personnel requirements contained in the policy and procedure manual.
  • PHYSICAL DEMAND / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical Effort : Work activities require long periods of standing and sitting; independent body mobility (stoop, bend, walk routinely to perform daily tasks; ability to lift and carry up to 25; sufficient vision to read standard text; manual dexterity to use hands, arms, shoulder repetitively to write, record and document information daily.
  • Stress : Performs in high stress environment with psychiatric or chemically dependent clients.
  • Work activities are partially structured and require judgment in setting priorities.
  • Clinical decisions require judgment based upon commonly accepted principles of recovery.
  • Other decisions are guided by policies / procedures or guidelines and precedents established by similar situations.

  • Maintain a high level of professional practice and promote positive customer relations.
  • Be flexible in scheduling in order to meet client need.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and current practices in the field of psychotherapy.
  • Skill in interviewing and performing clinical assessments / screenings and person-centered treatment planning.
  • Skill in effectively conducting individual, group and family therapy with various age groups.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical records.
  • Knowledge and practice of ethical principles.
  • Ability to present ideas with a high degree of effectiveness, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to establish rapport and confidence with consumers and their families and with colleagues.
