Vice President, Corporate Controller

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on VP, Corporate Controller, to lead global accounting and financial operations. This executive will ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements, establish robust internal controls, and drive process improvements. The role is instrumental in scaling operations and ideal candidates have deep technical expertise and experience in high-growth, life sciences, or technology-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Drive SOX 404(a) and 404(b) readiness, collaborating across the company to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee documentation and periodic review of accounting policies and SOPs, ensuring they are communicated and followed.
  • Implement robust controls to document significant management decisions and technical accounting matters.

Accounting Operations

  • Lead all aspects of general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, cost accounting, payroll, international consolidation, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in financial processes and systems.
  • Oversee the financial close process, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, reconciliations, and consolidations.
  • Ensure inventory and cost accounting processes are accurate and compliant.
  • Treasury

  • Manage liquidity, capital structure, and short-term investments to support corporate strategy.
  • Maintain proper controls over bank accounts, cash disbursements, and debt covenant compliance.
  • Oversee banking relationships to ensure efficient transaction processing and access to capital.
  • Develop accurate cash flow forecasts to meet liquidity needs and optimize working capital.
  • Ensure compliance with treasury-related regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Monitor and manage foreign exchange exposure and hedging strategies as needed.
  • Tax

  • Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Manage tax planning strategies to optimize effective tax rate and cash flow.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors for tax provision and compliance.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess the impact on the organization.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls over tax processes and documentation.
  • Strategic Finance Support

  • Support M&A activities, technical accounting, and integration efforts.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and scalability.
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of complex financial and operational data for decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Systems Implementation and Improvement

  • Drive efficiency and utilization of NetSuite across finance and operations to ensure accurate financial close.
  • Lead implementation and utilization of FloQast for automation of the close tracking process.
  • Partner with FP&A to ensure Adaptive Planning accurately reports financial actuals for forecasting.
  • Partner with Investor Relations to ensure accurate reporting of key financial metrics for earnings releases, scripts, and investor presentations.
  • Governance, Risk, and Controls

  • Establish and maintain a sustainable governance structure suited for a public company, including periodic review and enhancement of control frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and proactively monitor changes in accounting standards.
  • Oversee risk management activities related to financial operations.
  • Oversee the insurance renewal process to ensure proper level of coverage.
  • Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to ensure team competency and growth.
  • Qualifications

  • CPA required; Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in public companies or private company environments.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and implement scalable processes in high-growth settings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally.
  • The base salary range for this full-time position is $293,000 - $315,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
