Twenty-eight hours per week, as determined by the supervisor, is required. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Student Affairs operating hours are Monday - Thursday, 7 : 30am - 5 : 30pm, and Friday, 8 : 00am-12 : 00pm.

Position Summary
The Financial Aid Support and Processing Assistant serves as a primary point of contact for students and families seeking financial assistance, guiding them through aid options, applications, and the processing of their requests. This role also supports student retention by providing assistance with record processing. Additionally, the position supports Student Affairs in providing student-focused services, processes, initiatives, and events that promote engagement and success.
Responsibilities
Applicant and Student Assistance with Financial Aid Processes
- Follow Financial Aid policies and procedures that comply with institutional, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Provide service excellence and clear explanations when responding to incoming telephone calls, emails, digital communications, mailed correspondence, and in-person interactions related to Financial Aid.
- Assist students with the completion of their financial aid applications and forms, offering counseling for unusual circumstances, and advising on documentation for Professional Judgment or Dependency Override requests.
- Evaluate incoming records and request necessary documentation to complete students' aid files
- Explain grant, scholarship, voucher, and additional aid-related application procedures, eligibility requirements, and disbursement procedures to prospective and current students, families, and stakeholders (as applicable).
Financial Aid Processing
Assist the Scholarship Committee in clerical needs associated with the selection of institutional scholarship recipients through the management of applications through Award Spring.Assist Financial Aid staff with the Golden LEAF and NC SECU scholarship processes, awarding, and state reporting processes.Collect and evaluate incoming records and request necessary verification documentation to complete students' aid files.Assist with reconciliation of state grant funds with the Business Office and the College Foundation portal (CFNC).Assist with administration of NC REACH and Education Training Vouchers (Foster Care to Success through North Carolina Reach) on the NCSEAA portal.Assist Financial Aid staff with processing state grant awards for disbursement, ensuring accurate awarding, transmittal, reconciliation, and state reporting.Assist Financial Aid staff with clerical processes related to state and federal overpayments and post-withdrawal disbursements, coordinating check requests with the Business Office as needed.Assist with all student evaluation procedures that are conducted at the end of each semester, such as Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Return to Title IV (R2T4).Secondary Responsibilities : Support Student Affairs departments as Financial Aid Responsibilities Allow
Provide student-facing service, assist in processing, and carry out overall support for Student Affairs events and projects, including but not limited to workshops, student communications, and outreach activities.Participate in Student Affairs meetings, trainings, and planning sessions to foster effective teamwork and communication across departments.Serve as a resource for Student Affairs by responding to emerging needs and supporting new practices that promote student success and well-being.Skills and Abilities

Associate degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience in Financial Aid or Admissions preferred.Knowledge of Title IV programs and State financial aid programs preferred.Bilingual in English / Spanish communication preferred.Posting Detail Information
