Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Multimedia Specialist will assist the CMRO team in creating written, visual, digital and other multimedia content for the institution's website, social media platforms, and other internal and external communication channels. The Multimedia Specialist will also assist the Community and Media Relations Director with special projects and other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.

As an employee of Laredo College, you are expected to adhere to the LC Employee Handbook, the LC Local and Legal policies () and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement's (VPIA) expectations and protocols at all time.

In addition, a confidentiality agreement should be signed every year on NEOED.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement communication plans to support organizational objectives.

Draft, proofread, and edit internal and external communications, including press releases, media advisories, newsletters, memos, emails, announcements and other written materials.

Assists with event coverage, advertising photography, editorial / studio photography, and other photography and videography requests.

Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of goals.

Foster and maintain strong relationships with external community partners, media partners, and stakeholders.

Generates new and engaging content ideas to build brand presence and drive social media audience engagement.

Creates engaging content such as pictures, videos, stories, and multimedia content to promote the institution.

Creates short videos, social media graphic designs, and Animated Graphic Interchange Format Images (GIFs) to promote our institution.

Performs other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications / Certifications / Licenses / Skills

Required :

Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.

Two or more years of experience in a position requiring intensive Social Media Content Creation and Management, Content Writing, Photography, Video Production and Editing, and / or other related duties.

Must have a valid Driver's License and current car insurance to travel as required. In accordance with CJ (Local) while driving on College District business, employees are required to abide by all applicable laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A professional disposition is required at all times.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Strong customer service and community relations skills.

Ability to use personal computer and various word processing and spreadsheet software programs which includes MS Office Suite, Zoom, TEAMS, One Drive, Google Drive and the internet to promote efficiency.

Must be able to multi-task.

Must be able to adapt and work in a fast paced environment.

Must be able to exercise good judgment, maintain a positive attitude, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time-management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to use social media for impressions and brand awareness.

Excellent knowledge of social media management and platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and other related platforms.

Strong knowledge of Graphic Design software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or other visual design and wire-framing tools, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Applications.

Skilled in working with video editing software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Pro etc.

Ability to create Animated Graphic Interchange Format Images (GIFs) and short videos with iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.

Must be able to write and proofread efficiently in English / Spanish languages.

Familiarity with publishing and web design.

Comfortable working with several decision-makers. Ability to work fast and under high-stress levels.

This position reports to the Community and Media Relations Director and the Assistant Director of Public Relations / Social Media.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
