Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring EPIC charting experience and a current NC or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient population is strictly med / surg
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 6, with a maximum of 1 : 7 during high census
  • 12-hour night shifts from 18 : 45 to 07 : 15, with self-scheduling
  • Contracts available for 13 weeks, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Unit uses EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR for systems and documentation
  • No cardiac telemetry patients are accepted on this unit
  • Up to 24 hours of unit orientation and required pre-start modules
  • No RTO allowed after booking and not allowed to be arranged on-site, especially during Christmas
  • Must work every other weekend and two out of three major holidays; no RTO during holiday periods permitted
  • Fatigue policy limits work to a maximum of 5 days in a row or 60 hours per week
  • Navy and / or white scrubs are required
  • Candidate's permanent address under 50 miles will be considered local and receive a different pay rate
  • Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees must have a 12-month gap before being eligible as a traveler
  • Travelers may float based on skill set and census needs, with no restrictions or special requests for floating

  • Active NC or compact RN license required at start (pending acceptable for consideration)
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Must be able to start IVs and provide telemetry care
  • Must pass EKG test prior to start
  • Preferred certifications include ACLS and NIHSS
  • Unit will accept first-time travelers
  • References from supervisors in the past 12 months required by start
