IT Architect - Cloud Solutions Team Lead

Job Description

The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an experienced and driven Cloud Solutions Team Lead to guide and mentor a team of Cloud Solutions Architects. This is a critical leadership role within the Enterprise DTS Cloud Solutions Architecture & Design team.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and mentor: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of Cloud Solutions Architects. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

• Develop and implement: Assist in establishing cloud migration strategies and provide State Agency teams with expert guidance on implementing and migrating IT applications to the cloud.

• Drive innovation: Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies and trends, and champion their adoption within the team and across the organization.

• Ensure best practices: Promote the use of DevOps principles, agile methodologies, and industry best practices for cloud architecture and implementation.

• Collaborate and communicate: Work closely with stakeholders across DTS and State Agencies to understand their needs and deliver effective cloud solutions.

This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days (2 days a week required in office and any mandatory in-office meetings). The office location is at 4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, UT 84129. Please note, a position's eligibility for telework is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Solutions Architects, providing technical guidance and support.

• Design, configure, and optimize cloud solutions in AWS, Azure, and GCP.

• Develop and implement cloud migration strategies for State Agencies.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective cloud architectures.

• Promote the use of DevOps principles, agile methodologies, and automation.

• Contribute to the development of cloud standards and best practices.

• Research and evaluate new cloud technologies and trends.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex cloud projects.

Qualifications

• Required:

  5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.

  Expert-level knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP (experience with multiple platforms is highly desired).

  Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

  Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

  Experience with automation tools.

  Experience in networking technology and how they apply to applications and infrastructure environments

  Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments.

  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Preferred:

  Bachelor's degree in computer science or work related experience.

  Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).

  Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  Experience with serverless computing.
