Job description

Electrician

The Electrician is responsible for performing journeyman level duties related to electrical components and systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. This position serves multiple facilities throughout the DMV area. Company car and gas card provided. Pay rate : $46.93 - $49.93 per hour total compensation based on experience. Shift : 6 : 00am-2 : 00pm. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurances, 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, and more. This position is provided with a company vehicle for work purposes.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications
  • Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment
  • Solves standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments
  • Documents actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
  • Repairs electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices
  • Determines the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps
  • Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisor
  • Uses ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems in residential homes, on roadside poles and in commercial properties
  • Answers emergency calls quickly, assesses the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provides directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
  • Maintains equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; reports any issues to immediate supervisor

Qualifications :

  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • 3-5 years of progressive, hands-on experience in a commercial and industrial setting
  • Electrician Journeyman License (VA, MD, DC)
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Codes and Local Codes
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Working Environment :

    Work takes place in a large, complex facility with exposure to varying noise levels due to equipment. This position will perform work in an indoor and outdoor setting with exposure to different temperatures and weather conditions.
