A day in the shop
At our Red Bud, IL facility, your day starts by opening Mastercam, loading models, and translating customer specifications into precise toolpaths. You’ll move seamlessly from programming to the machine, setting up multi‑axis mills and lathes, selecting and loading the correct tooling, and dialing in offsets. You’ll validate first‑article parts, fine‑tune feeds and speeds, and keep the line moving with minimal downtime through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Core responsibilities
- Program CNC equipment with G‑code / M‑code to manufacture parts to print.
- Interpret technical blueprints, 2D drawings, and 3D models with a focus on GD&T.
- Set up and operate CNC machines, optimizing performance and throughput.
- Select, load, and verify cutting tools and workholding appropriate to each job.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues to reduce downtime.
- Inspect parts for accuracy and surface finish; adjust programs and offsets as needed.
- Partner with engineering and production to refine processes and enhance designs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety best practices.
- Document setups, programs, and production steps; keep accurate records of work performed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training / certification in CNC machining preferred.Proven experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist with strong process understanding.Expertise reading and interpreting complex prints and blueprints.Familiar with Mastercam v19 or later and CNC programming languages (G‑code, M‑code).Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality.Strong problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.Capable of lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.Technical proficiencies
