Description :

The Behavioral Healthcare Provider develops, coordinates, implements, and provides interdisciplinary services focused on behavioral and biomedical science.

The role involves the application of knowledge and techniques related to health and illness for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Within the scope of practice, the provider performs psychosocial interventions with clients.

They conduct individual, family, or group interventions such as counseling, testing, and education of the client.

The provider develops intervention goals and objectives aimed at educating clients and resolving their functional problems.

They participate in establishing, implementing, and evaluating treatment system goals and objectives.

Interviews with clients and their families are conducted to establish case goals and objectives.

The provider assesses clients to determine specific intervention techniques and monitors their responses to treatment.

Feedback on the effectiveness of prescribed treatment is provided.

The provider evaluates lower-level behavioral healthcare provider cases and monitors client progress based on prescribed treatment plans.

Necessary data documents are maintained to comply with federal, state, and local agency requirements.

The provider prepares data including social histories, admission / aftercare summaries, and court documents as required by law and departmental policy.

Participation in treatment teams and program development teams is expected.

Attendance at training meetings, departmental meetings, and court hearings is required.

The provider establishes and maintains working relationships with other facilities, agencies, and support services for referral coordination and follow-up services.

Knowledge of departmental regulations, policy, procedures, and governmental rules is essential.

The ability to counsel on sensitive matters and to recognize unusual or threatening conditions is necessary.

Problem-solving skills are required for situations with multiple variables.

An understanding of social work theories, principles, and techniques is essential.

Unusual working conditions may be encountered, including exposure to potentially violent clients, unusual noise or odors, and contagious diseases.

Travel to community sites under contract with relevant departments may be required.
