Overview
Associate Civil / Geotechnical Engineer , Mining – Tempe, AZ (Tucson, AZ also considered)
WSP is initiating a search for an Associate Civil / Geotechnical Engineer with mining industry experience for our Tempe office. You will be part of our US Mine Waste Team, working on mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects as part of a regional team.
Responsibilities
- Geotechnical field investigation
- Site and material characterization
- Design of facilities including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations
- Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and deformation analyses to support facility designs
- Surface water management analysis and facility designs
- Prepare portions of technical reports documenting field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs
- Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates
- Perform domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures
- Complete training on assigned tasks
- Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experienceSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or ability to complete within 6 months of start dateStrong analytical skills for engineering calculations and analysesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and on teamsComfortable working in remote settingsActive focus on health and safety for themselves and othersAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationallyBasic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and toolsFamiliarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3DCommitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's policiesAbility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweekOccasional travel may be required depending on project requirementsPreferred Qualifications
