Job Summary
Facilitate communication between hearing or deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom; serve as a liaison between deaf or hard of hearing students, hearing students and instructors; and perform related work as required.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide sign language interpreter services
- Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, events, and other spoken word situations using American Sign Language or other manual sign systems appropriate for the language and cultural background of the deaf or hard-of-hearing student.
- Work collaboratively with the special education teacher to plan and organize the instruction.
