McBride has an exciting opportunity to support Allied Command Transformation (ACT) which is NATO’s leading agent for change : driving, facilitating, and advocating the continuous improvement of Alliance capabilities to maintain and enhance the military relevance and effectiveness of the Alliance. The main objectives of ACT are : providing appropriate support to NATO missions and operations; leading NATO military transformation; improving relationships, interaction and practical cooperation with partners, nations and international organizations. ACT therefore leads Alliance concept development, capability development, training and lessons learned initiatives and provides unfettered military support to policy development within NATO.
Background : The Senior Enterprise Architect will provide support to ACT’s NC3 Programme by developing, documenting, and refining architecture designs that translate NATO’s political, strategic, and operational needs into coherent systems aligned with NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) principles. The role involves mission thread analysis, capability employment model development, and production of architectural documentation that captures the relationships, dependencies, and flows across NC3 systems. The architect will collaborate with military staff, policy leaders, engineers, and technology experts to ensure solutions meet NATO requirements while remaining adaptable to evolving mission contexts. Key activities include developing conceptual, logical, physical, and technical architectural views, creating detailed models using ArchiMate and related tools, and ensuring compliance with NATO standards, directives, and security requirements. The Senior Enterprise Architect will support NC3 modernization through stakeholder engagement, scenario development, and continuous validation, ensuring architectures enable operational readiness and mission effectiveness.

Mandatory Qualifications : At least five (5) years in the last ten (10) of demonstrable experience with hands-on development of business, application, and technology architectures using professional modelling tools (e.g., Sparx, ARIS, BizzDesign), in accordance with TOGAF or comparable frameworks (e.g., Zachman, DoDAF, UAF). One or more certifications in recognized Enterprise Architecture methodologies / frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, UAF) with proficiency in ArchiMate notation. Demonstrated ability to present complex architectures clearly to non-technical audiences, from end users to senior decision-makers. Demonstrable recent (within the last ten years) experience in analysis, design, and modelling of business architecture, with emphasis on documenting roles, processes, and information flows. Education and Clearance University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). National Secret Clearance / NATO Secret Clearance.
