Overview
Lecturer in Theater (Scene Design) at Christopher Newport University. The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position with a nominal teaching load of 4-4. The successful candidate will teach studio classes in scene design and drawing & drafting, intro to theater, and other areas of specialization for both majors and non-majors. The position includes production responsibilities as Scenic Designer for four shows in the mainstage season, supervising student teams in properties and scenic painting, and participating in departmental advising and recruitment. All faculty are involved in undergraduate teaching within a liberal arts environment and in teaching within the Liberal Learning Core Curriculum.

Theater & Dance at CNU is a production-driven program with 10 full-time faculty and 100 majors. The University offers a BA in theater with six concentrations and a dance minor. The department has a robust production schedule, an annual dance concert, and student-directed performances. The Ferguson Center for the Arts houses state-of-the-art studios, classrooms, design labs, construction shops, and three performance venues. The faculty are highly credentialed and collaborative.
