COMPANY :
A well-established and rapidly growing automotive retail group is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of dealership accounting, and a drive for accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
Dealership Controller
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and report monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership and manufacturer guidelines, formats, and deadlines.
- Compile and submit financial statements and supplemental data for performance groups or executive reporting.
- Hire, train, manage, and supervise accounting personnel.
- Prepare weekly and monthly forecasts in coordination with the General Manager and submit relevant financial reports to executive management.
- Calculate and post monthly commissions for department managers based on dealership performance.
- Provide timely reports and keep management informed of income and expense trends by department and store.
- Collaborate with department leaders and executive management to improve profitability through expense control and process improvement.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and related payroll tax entries.
- Reconcile all manufacturer-related accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, incentives, floorplan assistance, holdbacks, advertising, and more.
- Maintain reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to the general ledger.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly manager meetings, accounting conference calls, and quarterly management reviews.
- Oversee intercompany reconciliations between related entities.
- Manage extended warranty, insurance product, and finance reserve reconciliations, including monthly adjustments.
- Oversee reconciliation of floorplan statements and manage relationships with financial institutions during audits.
- Ensure accurate inventory reconciliation with dealer statements.
- Manage preparation and submission of tax-related filings and payments, including monthly VIT and sales-related reports.
- Review monthly parts and vendor reconciliations and ensure appropriate adjustments are made.
- Oversee preparation and filing of required compliance forms.
- Monitor bank activity and post select transactions as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by executive leadership.
Qualifications :
5+ years of automotive dealership accounting experience.Proven leadership and team management experience.Strong proficiency with dealership management systems and accounting software.Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and timeliness.Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and senior leadership.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.REQUIREMENTS :
