Job description

HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEER

Location : Cameron, TX

Department : Production

Status : Exempt

Reports to : Operations Manager

Schedule : Mon–Thu 8 : 00 AM–5 : 00 PM, Fri 8 : 00 AM–2 : 30 PM

Compensation : $70,000–$90,000

Overview

This role leads company-wide safety programs, audits, training, and compliance efforts. You will partner with production leadership to identify risks, improve processes, and strengthen the overall safety culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain company safety programs, procedures, and policies
  • Run inspections, audits, and risk assessments and drive corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root-cause analysis, and document findings
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance
  • Lead safety training, onboarding, toolbox talks, and ongoing education
  • Maintain all required safety records, permits, and documentation
  • Support production with safe work practices that meet schedule and quality expectations
  • Evaluate equipment, materials, and processes for safety impacts
  • Oversee PPE compliance, respirator programs, confined space and hot work practices
  • Manage crane, forklift, rigging, and Lockout / Tagout programs
  • Reinforce safe work practices across teams and departments
  • Lead emergency response planning and drills
  • Serve as the primary contact for inspectors, auditors, and outside safety partners
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of safety or industrial safety experience (manufacturing preferred)
  • OSHA 30 required; CSP, ASP, CHST or similar a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety practices
  • Strong communication and training skills
  • Skilled in investigations, reporting, and documentation
  • Ability to influence and drive safety culture improvement
  • High professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Work Environment

  • Split between office and production floor
  • Frequent walking, inspections, and hands-on assessments
  • Requires consistent alertness and focused attention
  • PPE in production areas : steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, long pants; gloves recommended
