Oncology Infusion Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager, this position is responsible for mixing chemotherapeutic and / or other infused drugs, managing inventory as it relates to both inpatient and outpatient oncology infusion products, perform all of the functions of a Pharmacy Technician III when required as well as providing expertise in development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of all medication related technology. A Pharmacy Oncology Infusion Technician must also demonstrate leadership skills and serve as a role model to Pharmacy Technician I, II, & III staff members and Pharmacy Interns. Competency in data analysis, critical thinking skills, and handling hazardous medications is required. An understanding of all federal, state, and local rules and regulations as they pertain to hazardous medications is required. In addition, the Pharmacy Oncology Infusion Technician performs assigned duties independently within the Department of Pharmacy policies and procedures, never performs duties which can only be performed by a pharmacist, and performs assignments within established time frames. Has some supervisory responsibilities. Pharmacy Oncology Infusion Technician may receive, secure, and transport hazardous medications as necessary.
Education
High School Diploma - Preferred
Experience
3-5 Years hospital pharmacy technician - Required
Currently working at least 40 hours per week.
License & Certification
Professional Certification - Required
Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the State Board of Pharmacy.Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status required with documentation of continued education.
