Description : Primary Purpose

We’re seeking a technically skilled and growth-minded Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure. This role can be scaled from entry-level (Tier 1) to strategic leadership (Lead), depending on experience and organizational needs. You’ll play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring clean, reliable, and accessible data across the organization.

In this role, a successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the tools, resources, and integrations the company uses to make data driven decisions. Data must flow smoothly and efficiently between these systems, be secure, and accessible for various departments for analytics. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting several on-premises databases, and providing additional support to key infrastructure roles as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tier I

o Assist in building and maintaining basic ETL pipelines

o Perform routine data cleaning and validation

o Support data ingestion from internal and external sources

o Document processes and escalate complex issues

  • Tier II
  • o Design and optimize ETL / ELT workflows from API, flat files and other sources

    o Develop and maintain data models and schemas

    o Collaborate with analysts and developers to meet data needs

    o Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues

    o Optimize data delivery and automate manual processes

    o Perform regular backups and recovery procedures

    o Understanding of PCI regulations

  • Tier III
  • o Architect scalable data solutions across cloud and on-prem environments

    o Implement data governance, quality, and security standards

    o Lead integration of new data sources and technologies

    o Assemble large, complex datasets from multiple sources

    o Build infrastructure using Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, Fabric and Power BI.

    o Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across platforms

    o Set up and manage user access and permissions

    o Monitor database performance and apply necessary updates or patches

    o Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy

  • Lead
  • o Own the data engineering roadmap and infrastructure strategy

    o Oversee team performance and cross-functional collaboration

    o Drive innovation in data architecture and automation

    o Align data systems with business goals and analytics initiatives

    o Collaborate with data analysts, and product teams to support data needs

    o Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulations

    o Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy

  • Required Qualifications

  • Tier I
  • o Associate’s degree in IT, Data Engineering or related field.

    § Experience can replace education

    o 0–2 years’ experience

    o Basic SQL and Python skills

    o Familiarity with relational databases and data formats (CSV, JSON, DAX, SQL)

  • Tier II
  • o Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Data Engineering or related field.

    § Experience can replace education

    o 2–4 years’ experience

    o Proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX, and ETL tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt)

    o Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Fabric)

  • Tier III
  • o Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Data Engineering or related field.

    § Experience can replace education

    o 4–7 years’ experience

    o Expertise in data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift)

    o Strong understanding of data architecture and performance tuning

    o Strong understanding of CI / CD environments.

    o Strong programming skills (Python, Java, Scala, DAX)

    o Experience with big data tools (Lakehouse, Power BI, Fabric)

    o Understanding of / experience in Lakehouse architecture, Star Schema and Medallion Architecture.

  • Lead
  • o Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Data Engineering or related field.

    § Experience can replace education

    o 7+ years’ experience

    o Proven leadership in data engineering and infrastructure

    o Experience aligning data strategy with business outcomes

    o Proven experience with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

    o Solid understanding of API protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and web services.
