Material Handler

Working at our Dayton site : TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is a part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.

Role Overview

Provides general material support throughout the site, general housekeeping in area (5S), prepares domestic dock shipments to include crating, boxing, labeling and examining for specifications, checks pack list and verifies accuracy, prepares and set up boxes for shipping, boxes and crates shipments for outside services, prepares OV shipments, consolidates shipping, pulls parts by FIFO, ships domestic shipments based on customer requirements, uses Fed-Ex / UPS / DHL process for domestic shipments, banding and shrink wrapping, prepares specific customer labels, operates a fork lift with proper training, unloads trucks, receives materials using set process by utilizing proper tracking and moving materials accordingly, restocks materials, replenishes point of use materials, uses measuring devices including scales, reviews, understands and follows work instructions and procedures, ensures all company paperwork is filled-out accurately, meets team goals, cross trains, works with other areas in the shop to support the movement and storage of materials, works to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines, and works under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environment. Will also perform other duties as assigned. Transports material to and from OV suppliers in company van.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), 6 months of related experience and / or training, forklift certification, and valid driver license is required to operate a forklift and company van.

Prior shipping, receiving and stores experience, prior import / export experience, prior resource planning system experience, strong attention to detail, compliance with and supports all GE policies and the "Integrity : The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment" guide, excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors, embraces ambiguity and engages others in idea generation, works collaboratively and respects all others, actively participate and support a team environment, and keeps team informed of work progress, timelines, and issues.

Additional Information

Wages $20.10 per hour, 10% Shift Differential, while performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day, must be able to work with upper body extremities, must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis, must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis, must be able to lift and / or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance, while performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving high speed machinery and / or mechanical parts, employee will be required to use approved chemicals and may be exposed to dust, fumes, or smoke from normal machining operations. (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)), and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
