Head of AV Regulatory Compliance

The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips and has driven over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. This role sits within Waymo's Legal team and focuses on the legal issues surrounding transformational autonomous driving technology, supporting regulatory, policy, product, and commercial objectives.

In this hybrid role, you will report into our Managing Counsel - Regulatory, Policy, Product.

You Will

• Set the vision and own execution for a mature, scalable AV Regulatory Compliance function to enable expansion in many more cities across the United States and around the world.
• Define long-term regulatory priorities, establish scalable governance frameworks, and lead business transformation efforts to keep Waymo's operations compliant, resilient, and adaptable to a dynamic regulatory landscape.
• Empower an internal team of Regulatory Compliance managers to contribute to and lead compliance initiatives and support their professional growth.
• Design and implement processes, controls, and organizational capabilities to proactively manage regulatory risk, prepare for regulatory scrutiny and investigations, and support business growth across markets and business lines.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with counsel, Safety, Operations, Public Policy, Product, Engineering and vendor partners to achieve regulatory compliance outcomes.
• Make resource, budget, and prioritization decisions for the training department that support company goals and business objectives.
• Represent complex compliance programs effectively to regulators, partners, and executive stakeholders.

Location and Compensation

We prefer candidates in a hybrid working arrangement in the Bay Area (Mountain View or San Francisco offices). Exceptional candidates seeking remote work may be considered; Waymo may not be able to employ remotely in all locations. Salary range : $226,000—$286,000 USD. The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is based on location, experience, training, and skill level. Waymo employees are eligible to participate in discretionary annual bonus programs, equity incentives, and benefits programs, subject to eligibility requirements.
