Medical Director Antimicrobial Stewardship at Missouri Baptist
Hospital Position Description : The Division of Infectious Diseases
at Washington University School of Medicine (WashU) in St. Louis is
seeking a full-time faculty member to serve as the Medical Director
of Antimicrobial Stewardship at Missouri Baptist Hospital . This
role will provide salary support for antibiotic stewardship
leadership at Missouri Baptist Hospital. The remaining effort will
be spent in clinical work at Missouri Baptist, as an infectious
diseases consultant. Washington University is nationally recognized
for its leadership in infection prevention, antimicrobial
stewardship, and healthcare epidemiology, with a long-standing
commitment to training the next generation of leaders in infectious
diseases. Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 489-bed acute-care
facility located in the near-western suburbs of St. Missouri
Baptist's specialized care includes oncology, heart care,
obstetrics, women's health, pediatrics, neurology,
gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke care, pain management, breast
health and many other specialties. Outpatient locations in Sunset
Hills, Rock Hill and Chesterfield offer women's health, cancer
treatment, imaging, labs, and additional services. Missouri Baptist
launched a residency program in internal medicine in July 2025,
with 29 residents in the inaugural class. Missouri Baptist is the
only hospital in St. Louis County named a Magnet hospital by the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Missouri Baptist
Medical Center is a member of nationally renowned BJC HealthCare,
which is a network of 24 hospitals with 44,000 employees and
hundreds of clinics serving Missouri, Southern Illinois and Eastern
Kansas. Role Overview : The successful candidate will be a strong
infectious diseases clinician with experience in antimicrobial
stewardship. Clinical responsibilities will be shared with other
Washington University Infectious Diseases physicians in the West
County ID practice group. ID faculty at Missouri Baptist are
expected to participate in the didactic and clinical teaching for
the internal medicine residency program. On-site presence at
Missouri Baptist Medical Center for a minimum of 4 months per year,
with flexibility to adjust based on program and individual needs.
Coverage of inpatient infectious diseases consults at Missouri
Baptist Medical Center, with opportunity for additional consult
work at BJC West County Hospital as part of the West County ID
practice group. Shared weekend cross-coverage with other Washington
University ID clinicians in the West County group. Outpatient
clinic at BJC West County as needed, depending on scheduling and
institutional needs. Program Leadership & Strategy Lead and
oversee all aspects Antimicrobial Stewardship programs at Missouri
Baptist Medical Center (MBMC). Guide the strategic growth and
continuous improvement of these programs in alignment with
institutional goals and regulatory standards. Education &
Training Develop and implement educational initiatives in
antimicrobial stewardship for the Missouri Baptist Internal
Medicine Residency Program. Design and deliver engaging training
sessions and learning modules for clinical staff, residents, and
interdisciplinary teams. Collaboration & Clinical Partnership
Collaborate with departments at WashU and MBMC, as well as clinical
partners, to provide evidence-based guidance on antimicrobial
stewardship. CDC, Joint Commission) and contribute to quality
improvement efforts. Qualifications : MD or DO with board
certification in Infectious Diseases (BC / BE) Eligible for medical
licensure in the state of Missouri Experience and / or scholarly
contributions in antimicrobial stewardship a plus Application
