Job Description
A Licensed Mental Health Professional in a Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) program provides direct therapeutic services, including individual, family, and group therapy, to youth with mental, emotional, or behavioral illnesses. Key duties include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, coordinating with families and other service providers, providing crisis intervention, and performing clinical documentation. The role requires strong clinical skills in child and adolescent development, behavioral management, and the ability to work within a team and school setting to support clients' functional improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Clinical Services :
Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based models and therapeutic modalities.
Assessment & Planning :
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and crisis assessments to identify client needs. Develop and implement individualized service / treatment plans with clear, measurable goals and objectives.
Coordination of Care :
Facilitate care coordination with other service providers, schools, and family members to enlist existing supports and identify additional resources.
Crisis Intervention :
Respond to and manage crisis situations, ensuring client safety and stability.
Clinical Documentation :
Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress reports, treatment summaries, and other clinical documentation.
Collaboration :
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings and collaborate with program staff, including program directors, school personnel, and other clinicians.
Behavioral Support :
Design and implement behavior management programs and strategies for individual clients.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
Clinical Expertise :
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, family dynamics, and common treatment practices for various emotional disorders.
Therapeutic Modalities :
Proficiency in techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other approaches to facilitate client progress.
Crisis Management :
Ability to assess and manage high-stress situations and potential crises effectively.
Interpersonal Skills :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, families, and colleagues.
Documentation & Compliance :
Ability to maintain detailed clinical records and ensure compliance with state regulations and agency standards.
