Locum Tenens : General Surgery Physician Near Martinsville, VA

We are currently seeking a board-certified General Surgery Physician for a locum tenens opportunity near Martinsville, VA. This position requires call-only coverage and is available on an ongoing basis starting ASAP. The role focuses on inpatient care, providing surgical support as needed. Schedule :

  • Call Requirements : On-call coverage for surgical emergencies and inpatient care

  • Shifts : Varies depending on patient needs
  • On-Call Days : As needed, flexible

    • Job Duties :

  • Provide general surgery services in an inpatient setting with call-only responsibilities
  • Perform surgical procedures and manage post-operative care
  • Handle inpatient admissions related to general surgery
  • Conduct hospital rounding and manage emergency cases as required
  • Work collaboratively with hospital staff to ensure patient safety and continuity of care

    • Required Qualifications :

  • Board Certification : Yes, must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
  • Fellowship : Required
  • Licensing : Active Virginia state license
  • Certifications :

    • No requirement for ABLS, ACLS, ATLS, BLS, or PALS

  • EMR Systems : Athena & Meditech
  • Credentialing Timeframe : Estimated 60 days for credentialing with temporary privileges available

  • No outpatient care required; the focus is solely on inpatient responsibilities
