About the Role Amplitude\'s Platform team is the foundation for how our engineers build, deploy, and operate software. We manage Kubernetes-based infrastructure, CI / CD pipelines, observability, developer tooling, and the golden path for delivering reliable, secure, and cost-efficient systems—taking a software development approach to problem solving.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead this team of highly experienced engineers. This role balances hands-on technical credibility with transformational leadership , enabling the team to deliver today while shaping how Amplitude builds software in the future. This role reports to the Senior Director of Infrastructure.

What You\'ll Do

What You\'ll Do

• Lead and manage the Infra Platform team of engineers, fostering a culture of business impact, ownership, accountability, and customer-centricity.
• Provide technical leadership in Kubernetes, CNCF ecosystem tooling, CI / CD, observability, and infrastructure-as-code, guiding the team with credible insights and judgment.
• Spend ~30% of your time hands on - code contributions will be part of the day to day. We work with Go, Python, Node, JavaScript, and more.
• Drive AI transformation in developer experience by identifying and implementing ways to use AI / LLMs beyond code generation — such as automating Platform onboarding, using AI Ops to auto-heal systems, or other abstractions that simplify developer workflows.
• Own people management responsibilities :
• Conduct regular 1 : 1s, provide coaching, and ensure engagement across the team.
• Run performance reviews, support growth plans, and make promotion / compensation recommendations.
• Recognize and reward progress, and ensure engineers feel supported and challenged.
• Drive alignment within a team of strong engineers — facilitating healthy debate, making trade-offs, and delivering cohesive solutions.
• Ensure high code quality and engineering standards by actively reviewing, providing feedback, and identifying quality trends at both individual and team levels.
• Partner cross-functionally with Security Engineering, FinOps, and Product Engineering to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that benefit Engineering and the product.
• Contribute to strategic direction of the platform organization, while ensuring day-to-day operational success and tactical execution.

This role is eligible for equity, benefits and other forms of compensation. Salary range : California San Francisco Bay Area; total target cash $213,000 - $368,000 plus equity. This information is for California employees where required by law.
